Community Outreach Coordinator with Live Smoke Free (smoke-free multi-housing)
The Association for Nonsmokers—Minnesota is seeking a full-time Community Outreach Coordinator for its Live Smoke Free program. This position will work to increase the number of smoke-free apartment buildings in the Twin Cities metro area. Live Smoke Free assists tenants and landlords in finding solutions to secondhand smoke problems through adoption of smoke-free policies for apartment buildings.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Outreach Coordinator will assist the LSF program team in promoting the LSF program, with particular responsibilities as follows:
- Work with apartment renters over the phone and in face-to-face meetings to find solutions to secondhand smoke problems.
- Work with apartment owners and managers over the phone and in face-to-face meetings to educate them on the benefits and steps to adopting smoke-free policies for apartment buildings.
- Represent Live Smoke Free at community events, including health fairs, community celebrations, and housing industry conferences.
- Contribute to Live Smoke Free communications, including newsletters, media releases, and web site.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 1-2 years work experience in community organizing, public health, public policy, communications, marketing, or related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Outgoing personality; able to relate to people of all racial and economic backgrounds
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Able to organize and coordinate multiple projects at once without losing attention to detail, including database and budget management
- Knowledge of tobacco prevention and control strategies and/or knowledge of the housing industry
- Operational knowledge of MS Office programs, including MS Access; Adobe InDesign a plus!
- Must have use of a reliable automobile, be willing to travel throughout the Twin Cities metro area, and able to work some evenings and weekends
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) grant-funded position. Starting salary $36,000 or depending on qualifications. Benefits include health insurance and retirement contributions.

Policy Outreach Specialist with ProjectWATCH (countering tobacco marketing)
The Association for Nonsmokers—Minnesota is seeking a full-time Policy Outreach Specialist for its Project WATCH program. This position will work to increase policies that protect youth and young adults from tobacco marketing.

- Work with decision makers from across the state to adopt policies that limit tobacco marketing and youth access to tobacco;
- Represent Project WATCH at community events, including health fairs, community celebrations, and conferences; and
- Contribute to Project WATCH communications including newsletters, media releases, and web site.

Youth Worker-Community Outreach Specialist
The Ramsey Tobacco Coalition (RTC), a program of the Association for Nonsmokers-MN (ANSR), seeks a 1/2 time employee to assist in reducing the tobacco industry's influence in the community.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Work directly with inner city youth groups to carry out advocacy projects;
- Conduct community outreach to schools, nonprofits and community festivals with the goal of decreasing tobacco marketing in the community;
- Assess communities for enforcement of current sign regulations;
- Through local community media avenues, promote RTC and ANSR.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 1-2 years' work experience in community organizing, youth development, public speaking, public health, public policy, communications, marketing, or related field;
- An applicant without a BA who has extensive experience working with inner city youth will be considered;
- Experience working with and training youth, ages 12-18;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Comfortable and competent with public speaking;
- Operational knowledge of MS Office programs;
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work some evenings.
To be successful at this position the applicant will have:
- Ability to be a part of a team;
- Understanding of policy approaches vs. educational approach;
- Must be self-started, able to identify new opportunities while effectively using existing resources;
- Ability to work independently and organized.
